I used to think everyone understood why patriarchy doesn’t work. Surely it’s obvious that elevating one side while silencing the other always leads to resentment and, eventually, collapse. But then I stumbled across a man who presents himself as spiritual and wise, and I realised, not everyone really gets it.
Society warns that being single later in life must be lonely or miserable, but my experience tells a different story. Being single and not young anymore doesn’t have to be tragic. In fact, it can be the stage where you finally live by your own rules, pursue your own meaning, and experience joy that is entirely your own: steady, quiet, and deeply satisfying.
It’s International Women’s Day today. It’s not just about celebration; it’s about human rights recognition for women: the right to education, to vote, to be elected, to own land and businesses, to create, and to choose their own paths without barriers.
People tend to fall into three broad categories: some move with purpose, some chase illusions, and some are simply running away. These groups can be defined as:
North Star Navigators: Those who follow their true calling.
Tail Chasers: Those fixated on external success.
Escapists: Those avoiding reality altogether.
Happy International Women’s Day. This post is not meant to blame women for the world’s chaos but rather, to emphasise the importance of women being able to understand and embrace the Yin-Yang principles properly. The emphasis needs to be noted as women have been conditioned to be selfless, prioritising others’ needs and abandoning theirs. Not to mention many of them are still expected to be quiet when it comes to receiving pain, abuse, and restriction in various aspects of their lives.
I’ve been wanting to write about how religious and spiritual people can have cult-like enthusiasm when it comes to spreading their beliefs and promising a happy life. Heck, even I can get into that enthusiasm too at times.Â
It’s International Women’s Day today. Many believe it’s time to stop celebrating International Women’s Day as it only creates unnecessary hostility between genders.
But instead of focusing on the hostility, why don’t we see it as a day to celebrate how women’s rights have progressed so far, from being oppressed to having some freedom to choose?
Celebrating International Women’s Day doesn’t divide humans based on gender. Celebrating it means we appreciate all women’s struggles so far to achieve the freedom all humans should have.
The Golden Rule is a life philosophy that states “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” From Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, to Baháʼà Faith and many other religious and spiritual teachings, the Golden Rule seems to be the be-all-end-all approach for life. It is meant to inspire us to treat others the way we want to be treated. But why is it a problem for some, no, many people? What’s wrong with it? Here is why:
These days, there have been many articles suggesting that we have a social media break. Or even further: delete our social media accounts altogether. My personal opinion about social media has been the same since 2008: it’s like a sharp knife. Just because it’s a sharp knife doesn’t mean it’s dangerous. Depending on how we hold and use it, a sharp knife can be extremely useful.
