One of my neighbours is a family with three daughters, the eldest is 12, and the youngest is 7.
Every day around 6 pm, the oldest daughter comes out of the house to call their cat, letting the cat know it’s dinner time. With her cute, little girly voice, she’d call the cat repeatedly, slowly, and patiently, “Dora, Dora… come here! Dinner time! Dora come here! Dinner time!”
One day the mother had to go somewhere and the children were looked after by a babysitter, an old lady.
I don’t know what happened that day, the 12-year-old didn’t come out to call their cat. Instead, the old lady came out and I could hear her low-pitched, husky voice, calling the cat repeatedly, quickly, and impatiently, “Dora, Dora… come here! Dinner time! Dora come here! Dinner time!”
She sounded more like she wanted to kill the cat.
Moral of the story: the exact same sentence sounds a lot different when voiced by different people and different tones. (Uhm. Yeah! Duh!)
I’m still laughing. That lady’s voice is just too funny.
