Happy Valentine’s Day everyone: single, coupled, tripled, whatever and wherever you are. Yes of course Valentine’s Day is also for the singles.
Tips for the singles:
take yourself out, buy or make yourself a small gift. Have a chat with yourself, find out what’s interesting about you and which areas you can/need to improve. Do what you really want to do instead of desperately seeking for someone just not to be alone.
Being alone is a necessity. It’s the only way for you to know the real you. When you know the real you, you know what you want instead of being easily manipulated into doing or accepting what you don’t want. This is crucial for navigating your life so that you’re not trapped in any toxic relationship or friendship.
But yeah, of course you can spend your Valentine’s Day with friends if that’s what you want. My point is that you don’t have to be afraid or ashamed to be alone.
Tips for those who are cynical about Valentine’s Day:
just be glad that humans still celebrate love. And if you think you can celebrate love every day, fine, celebrate it every day then, no need to be condescending towards how people want to celebrate love their way.
Tips for those who over-glorify Valentine’s Day:
know that it has become too commercial that everything romantic becomes expensive only on Valentine’s Day. Pick your own Valentine’s Day if necessary. Yes, love needs to be celebrated, to be remembered, to be nurtured. Never take it for granted.
Tips for those who don’t like flowers:
Don’t like flowers because they die quickly? Buy something else then. Like the abstract drawing I’ve just made last week: “Valentine’s Petals”. Printed on a 200 Gsm Satin Paper, A2 Size, delivered to your door. Delivered by the Australia Post, of course, unless you’re a close friend of mine who promise not to put me in your fridge, then I’ll deliver it myself.
