It’s International Women’s Day today. Many believe it’s time to stop celebrating International Women’s Day as it only creates unnecessary hostility between genders.
But instead of focusing on the hostility, why don’t we see it as a day to celebrate how women’s rights have progressed so far, from being oppressed to having some freedom to choose?
Celebrating International Women’s Day doesn’t divide humans based on gender. Celebrating it means we appreciate all women’s struggles so far to achieve the freedom all humans should have.
Despite the (supposedly) inspirational movement of encouraging women to be proud of their no-makeup look, my view has been the same for over two decades now, that we should be proud of something we earn, something we work hard for, not something we got for free.
